Privacy Policy

The Antelope Valley Home Water Guide collects almost nothing: it has no forms or accounts, sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising code, and this page explains the little that remains.

What we collect

Nothing that you type in, because there is nowhere to type it: the site has no forms, accounts, comment boxes, newsletter sign-ups or search box. Its pages set no cookies, store nothing in your browser, and load no analytics, tracking or advertising code. Text, photos, styles and the logo are all served from this site itself, and the type uses fonts already on your device, so reading a page does not contact a font or analytics service. Visitor information is not sold or shared.

Hosting and server logs

The site is a set of static pages delivered by a hosting provider. As with any website, the provider's servers receive standard request details when a page or image is loaded: the IP address, date and time, the address requested, the referring page and the browser and device type your browser reports. The provider uses these records to deliver pages, keep the service secure and fix errors, under its own retention practices. The provider also runs a small redirect rule that sends old web addresses to their new pages; it keeps no information of its own. This site does not use those records to profile visitors.

Videos

Some guides include a YouTube video in a click-to-play box. Until you press play, the box shows only the video's thumbnail picture, which your browser fetches from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com) when you scroll near it, so YouTube receives the standard request details described above; no YouTube player, code or cookie loads at that point. Pressing play loads the video from YouTube's privacy-enhanced address, youtube-nocookie.com, and YouTube's own privacy policy applies from then on. Videos on the softener and well-treatment guides come from the YouTube channel of SoftPro Water Systems, the store owned by the same team; the rest come from public agencies, universities and general home-improvement channels.

Links to other sites

Guides link to water suppliers, government agencies, code bodies and manufacturers so readers can check sources, and some softener and well treatment guides link to a store, SoftPro Water Systems, that has the same owners as this site, as the ownership disclosure explains. Each of those sites has its own privacy policy, cookies and checkout, which apply once you arrive there. When you follow a link, this site's settings tell your browser to pass on only this site's address, not the page you came from.

Changes

If the site ever adds a feature that collects information, this page will be updated before the feature goes live, and the date below will change. See also the terms of use, the accessibility statement and the about page.
